A dark concrete mass rising from the volcanic Icelandic landscape, Monolith House stands as a silent testament to nature's raw elements.
Designed to withstand severe subarctic wind and snow, Monolith House features high-density dyed black concrete walls that blend into the ancient lava fields. The solid structure is punctured by small light wells and a massive double-height glazing facing the southern skyline.
Internally, the structure feels like a warm cave. Polished basalt floors, dark stained oak walls, and a large central stone fireplace create a sheltered sanctuary from the harsh winds of the Icelandic plains.
